Slow Version 2
The Sun and the Moon
Once upon a time, a mother and her son and daughter lived in a village by the
mountains.
One day, the mother went to the neighboring village to sell rice cakes and was on
her way back, without having been able to sell all the rice cakes.
And then, a big scary tiger appeared in front of the mother.
“Grrrrr! Give me one of your rice cakes and I will not eat you.”
The mother quickly took out some rice cake and gave it to the tiger.
Then the tiger ate all of the rice cake and also ate the mother on the spot.
Wearing the mother’s clothes, the tiger went to the house where the brother and
sister lived in order to eat them up.
The brother and sister were just waiting for their mother to come home.
The tiger arrived at the house and shouted.
“Guys, I’m home. Please open the door.”
But, the brother and sister, who realized that their mother’s voice was strange,
did not open the door.
“That is not our mother’s voice.”
“That’s because I worked a lot and have a hoarse throat.”
“Then, show us your hands.”
“The tiger put his hand in through the gap of the door.
It was a hand of a tiger, with rough fur, instead of their mother’s white and soft
hand.
The brothers and sister, who were surprised, ran away in a hurry through the
back door.
They climbed up a big tree in the backyard.
The tiger tried hard to follow them and climb up the tree too.
The tiger was climbing up the tree and was getting closer and closer to where
they were.
The brother and sister were very scared.
Feeling desperate, the brother closed his eyes tight and started praying.
“God, please save us. Please send down a rope for us.”
And then, a light flashed in the sky and a new rope came down.
The brother and sister went up to the sky on the rope.
The tiger, who was looking at that, also started to pray to the sky.
“God, please send down a rope for me, too.”
Just then, a rope started coming down for the tiger, too.
The tiger immediately grabbed the rope and went up to the sky.
But then, the rope that the tiger was hanging on was cut abruptly.
The tiger fell down to the floor just like that and died.
The rope that had come down for the tiger was actually a rotten rope.
The brother and sister went up to the sky safely on the new rope, and the
brother became the moon and the sister became the sun.
