Slow Version 14
The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse
One day, the town mouse came to visit the country mouse at his place.
The country mouse treated the town mouse to some food.
“Welcome to my house. Here are some fresh fruits. Try them.”
The town mouse started eating the fruits.
“But fruits are the only foods you have?”
The country mouse brought some other foods but the town mouse didn’t really like them.
“Do you have some place to look around here?”
The town mouse asked.
“If you go up to the mountain behind my house, you can see the splendid view of the sun setting.”
The country mouse took the town mouse to the mountain in the back.
“I can see the view of the sun setting in the city too.”
The town mouse yawned and felt bored.
“How about you come visit the city? There are a lot of delicious foods at my place. There are a lot of things to see.”
The country mouse had never been anywhere other than the mountain behind his house.
So the country mouse decided to try following the town mouse and going to the city.
The two mice, who finally arrived in the city, had to run here and there to avoid the feet of people.
The country mouse suddenly got scared of the city.
Finally, the two mice arrived at the sewer of a big house.
They went in along the sewer and arrived at the town mouse’s house, in a corner of a big house.
“This is my house. What do you think? It’s really big, right?”
The town mouse took the country mouse to the kitchen of the big house.
In the kitchen, there were a lot of foods that the country mouse had never seen before.
Looking at that, the country mouse exclaimed,
“Wow, you can even eat this kind of food! Just as I expected, the city is on another level.”
The town mouse held the country mouse’s hand and went up to the top of the table.
“You don’t have this kind of food in the countryside, right? Help yourself.”
But when the town mouse and the country mouse were eating food, they suddenly heard some footsteps.
And then the town mouse quickly took the country mouse and ran away into a hole in the sewage.
Once the people disappeared again, the town mouse took the country mouse out to the place where the food was.
The country mouse had to repeat that many times to eat food.
The country mouse thought,
‘I have to eat food while running away like this? On top of that, I can’t even walk around the street because it’s scary.’
‘Even if I can’t eat this kind of food, I think it’ll be much better to eat comfortably in the countryside.’
The country mouse told the town mouse that he would go back to the countryside.
“The city’s night view is also really pretty. I was going to show you around the city. What’s wrong?”
The country mouse was dragged around by the town mouse and looked around the city, but he had a strong desire to go back to the countryside.
That night, when the town mouse fell asleep, the country mouse snuck out and went back to the countryside.
The country mouse felt at ease as soon as he arrived in the countryside.
‘No matter how much delicious food I can eat, it’s best to live at ease like this rather than trembling in fear.’
The country mouse, who had arrived in his own country house, slept at ease.
