Seung-wan: Hello, everyone! It's nice to be back! This is Seung-wan Yu from Talk To Me In Korean.

김예지: 네, 반갑습니다! 김예지입니다! 승완 씨, 반가워요.
Yeji: Nice to talk to you! This is Yeji Kim. Seung-wan, good to see you.

유승완: 예지 씨, 반가워요!
Seung-wan: Yeji, good to see you!

김예지: 이 표현 너무 좋아요. 반가워요. 반갑습니다. 반가워요. 반갑습니다.
Yeji: I really like this expression. "반가워요. 반갑습니다."

유승완: 네! 맞아요. ‘반갑다', “반가워요”, “반갑습니다.” “여러분을 만나서 좋아요”, “여러분을 만나서 기뻐요” 이런 뜻이에요. 그래서 누군가를 만날 때 써요.
Seung-wan: Yes! Right. "반갑다", "반가워요", "반갑습니다." "It's nice to see you, guys", "I'm happy to meet you." It has these kinds of meanings. So, you use it when you meet someone.

김예지: 네! 그래서 “만나서 반가워요”, “만나서 반갑습니다” 이렇게도 많이 써요. 그러면 승완 씨. 승완 씨랑 저랑 매일 회사에서 봐요. 맞아요?
Yeji: Yes! So, you often use it like these, too. "만나서 반가워요", "만나서 반갑습니다." Then, Seung-wan. You and I see each other every day at the company. Is that correct?

유승완: 네, 맞아요. 예지 씨랑 저는 매일 봐요.
Seung-wan: Yes, right. You and I see each other every day.

김예지: 저는 승완 씨랑 만나면 항상 좋아요. 승완 씨랑 만나면 매일 기뻐요. 그러면, 제가 승완 씨한테 매일 “승완 씨, 만나서 반가워요” 이렇게 말할 수 있어요?
Yeji: It's always nice to see you, Seung-wan. I'm glad whenever I see you. Then, can I say "승완 씨, 만나서 반가워요" to you every day?

유승완: 아, 그것은 어색해요.
Seung-wan: Ah, that is awkward.

김예지: 왜요?
Yeji: Why?

유승완: “반갑습니다”는 보통 처음 보는 사람한테 써요. 처음 만나는 사람한테 “반갑습니다” 이렇게 말해요.
Seung-wan: You normally use "반갑습니다" to someone that you've met for the first time. You say "반갑습니다" to the person that you've met for the first time.

김예지: 네, 맞아요. 그리고 오래 못 본 사람한테 써요. 승완 씨랑 저는 매일 봐요. 어제도 봤고, 오늘도 지금 보고 있어요. 그리고 내일도 볼 거예요. 그럼 “반갑습니다” 이렇게 말하지 않아요. 그냥 “안녕하세요” 이렇게 말해요.
Yeji: Yes, right. And you say it to someone that you haven't seen for a while. Seung-wan and I see each other every day. We met yesterday and also today. And we will meet tomorrow, too. Then, you don't say "반갑습니다." You just say "안녕하세요."

유승완: 네. 그런데 만약에 예지 씨가 여행을 갔어요, 1년 동안.
Seung-wan: Yes. But let's say you went on a trip for a year.

김예지: 와, 너무 좋네요.
Yeji: Wow, it'd be so nice.

유승완: 그리고 1년 뒤에 봤어요. 그러면 “예지 씨, 너무 반가워요!” 이렇게 말할 수 있어요.
Seung-wan: And we met a year later. Then, I can say "예지 씨, 너무 반가워요!"

김예지: 와… 1년 여행…
Yeji: Wow… A trip for a year…

유승완: 예지 씨, 여행 가지 마세요. 저랑 매일 톡투미 인 코리안에서 봐요.
Seung-wan: Yeji, don't go on a trip. Meet me at Talk To Me In Korean every day.

김예지: 와… 여행 가고 싶다...
Yeji: Wow… I want to travel…

유승완: 예지 씨!
Seung-wan: Yeji!

김예지: 여행… 여행…
Yeji: A trip… a trip…

유승완: 어휴… 여러분, 우리 대화 들어요!
Seung-wan: Urgh. Everyone, let's listen to the dialogue!

Seung-wan: Oh, Yeji!

김예지: 어, 승완 씨! 미국에서 언제 한국에 왔어요? 반가워요!
Yeji: Oh, Seung-wan! When did you come to Korea from the United States? NIce to see you!

유승완: 저 올해 한국에 왔어요! 우아, 정말 반가워요!
Seung-wan: I came to Korea this year. Wow, it's really nice to see you!

김예지: 여러분, 우리 “어서 오세요” 배웠어요. 레슨 1에서 배웠어요. “어서 오세요”랑 “반갑습니다”를 같이 쓸 수 있어요. 자주 같이 써요.
Yeji: Everyone, we learned "어서 오세요." We learned it in lesson 1. You can use "어서 오세요" and "반갑습니다" together. They are often used together.

유승완: 맞아요. “어서 오세요. 반갑습니다” 이렇게 말해요.
Seung-wan: Right. You say "어서 오세요. 반갑습니다."

김예지: 네! 여러분, 우리 다음 시간에도 봐요.
Yeji: Yes! Everyone, we will see you again next time.

유승완: 감사합니다!
Seung-wan: Thank you!
