Let’s take a look at the picture, first.

“비상시 커버를 열고, 손잡이를 앞으로 당기면 문을 열 수 있습니다.”
“In an emergency, you can remove the cover and pull the lever forward to open the door.”

“선로에 내릴 때에는 다른 열차에 주의하십시오.”
“When getting off on the railroad, please watch out for other trains.”

“평상시에는 절대로 손대지 마십시오.”
“Do not touch it under normal circumstances.”

첫 번째 문장 볼게요.
Let’s take a look at the first sentence.

“비상시 커버를 열고”
“In an emergency, remove the cover.”

‘비상시’라는 말은 생각하지 못하게 급한 상황이 나왔을 때를 말해요.
비상시 means when something urgent and unexpected happens.

예를 들어서 지하철을 타고 가는데 지하철이 멈췄다.
For example, you’re riding the metro but then the metro suddenly stopped.

그런 때는 비상시겠죠?
It must be an emergency situation, right?

아니면, 불이 났어요. 그럴 때 비상시라고 하겠죠.
Or let’s say a fire broke out. It’s what is called an emergency situation.

반대말로는 ‘평상시’가 있어요.
The opposite of it is 평상시 (normal situation).

‘비상’이 들어간 단어 굉장히 많아요.
There are many words including ‘비상'.

예를 들어 ‘비상금’.
For example, 비상금.

혹시나 아플 때를 대비해서 돈을 모아 두는 거죠.
It means the money you save up in case you get sick.

그럴 때는 ‘비상금’이라고 얘기를 하고요.
That’s what is called 비상금.

‘비상계단’. 불이 났을 때는 엘리베이터 타면 안 돼요.
The emergency stairs. You mustn’t take the elevator when a fire occurs.

이런 비상계단을 이용해야겠죠?
You must take the emergency stairs, right?

“비상시 커버를 열고 손잡이를 앞으로 당기면 문을 열 수 있습니다.”
“In an emergency, you can remove the cover and pull the lever forward to open the door.”

‘당기다’, 그리고 반대말은 ‘밀다’예요.
당기다. And the opposite of it is 밀다.

‘당기다’. ‘밀다’.
To pull. To push.

“선로에 내릴 때에는 다른 열차에 주의하십시오.”
“When getting off on the railroad, please watch out for other trains.”

선로는 기차나 지하철이 바퀴가 굴러갈 수 있도록 레일을 깔아 놓은 길을 말을 해요.
선로 refers to a set of rails where the wheels of a train or subway train can roll.

"선로에 내릴 때에는 다른 열차에 주의하십시오." 했는데요.
It says “When getting off on the railroad, please watch out for other trains.”

열차는 여러 개의 차의 칸이 길게 이어진 차를 말을 해요.
열차 means a long connection of railroad cars as a unit.

예를 들어 지하철이나 기차를 열차라고 하죠.
For instance, we call the subway trains or (regular) trains 열차.

‘주의하다’라는 말은 ‘조심하다’라는 말이에요.
주의하다 means to be careful.

반대말로는 ‘부주의하다’가 있어요.
The opposite is 부주의하다.

“평상시에는 절대로 손대지 마십시오.”
“Do not touch it under normal circumstances.”

아까 제가 ‘비상시’를 설명할 때 반대말 뭐라고 했죠?
What did I say is the opposite of 비상시 when I explained it?

맞아요. ‘평상시’예요.
Correct. It’s 평상시.

특별한 일이 없는 보통 때를 말을 해요.
It means normal times when there is nothing special happening.

예를 하나 들게요.
Let me take an example.

“저는 일요일에도 평상시처럼 일찍 일어나요.”
“I wake up early even on Sundays, just as usual.”

“평상시에는 절대로 손대지 마십시오.”
“Do not touch it under normal circumstances.”

‘절대로’라는 말은 ‘어떠한 일이 있어도 꼭’이라는 말이에요.
절대로 means by no means.

“절대 만지지 마세요.”
“Do not touch it no matter what.”

“절대로 문을 열지 마세요.”
“Do not open the door no matter what.”

이렇게 사용돼요.
It’s used like this.
