오늘도 저랑 같이 한국어 공부 재미있게 해 봐요.

사진 먼저 볼까요?
Shall we look at the picture, first?

“아직도 일반 돼지고기를 드십니까?
“Do you still eat normal pork?”

“일반돼지고기보다 더 담백하고 고소한 대한민국 0.3% 얼룩돼지.”라고 되어 있어요.
“The spotted pigs making up only 0.3% of all pigs in Korea, less greasy and more savory than normal pork.” That’s what it says.

이거는 어디에서 볼 수 있는 사진일까요?
Where can we see this picture?

삼겹살을 파는 레스토랑 앞에서 볼 수 있는 사진이었는데요.
It was a picture you can see in front of a restaurant that sells pork belly.

그럼 한 문장씩 볼게요.
Then, let’s take a look sentence by sentence.

먼저, 첫 번째 문장이에요.
The first sentence goes like this.

아직도 일반 돼지고기를 드십니까?
Do you still eat normal pork?

‘아직'이라는 말은 어떤 일이 끝나지 않고 계속되는 것을 말을 해요.
The word 아직 means a certain action or state continues without ending.

반대말은 ‘벌써'라는 말이 있는데요.
‘벌써(already)’ is the opposite of it.

예문 한번 볼까요?
Shall we check some example sentences?

아직도 안 먹었어요?
Have you still not finished eating yet?

벌써 다 먹었어요?
Have you finished eating already?

“일반 돼지고기를 드십니까?”라고 했어요.
It says “Do you eat normal pork?”

‘일반'이라는 말은 특별하지 않고 평범한 거를 말을 하는데요.
일반 means to be ordinary/normal and not special.

여러분들이 삼겹살집에 가서 돼지고기를 먹으면 그거는 일반 돼지고기겠죠?
If you go to a pork belly restaurant and eat pork, it will be normal pork, right?

반대말로는 ‘특수'라는 말이 있어요.
‘특수' is the opposite.

“드십니까?”
“Do you eat...?”

‘드시다'는 ‘먹다’의 존댓말이에요.
‘드시다' is a polite word for ‘먹다(to eat)’.

밥 먹기 전에 뭐라고 말해요?
What do we say before having a meal?

“맛있게 드세요.” 이렇게 말을 하죠.
We say “Bon appetit”.

그러면 다음 문장 볼게요.
Then, let’s look at the next sentence.

여러분, 한국어를 처음 배울 때 맛에 대한 표현, 뭐 배웠어요?
Guys, when you first learned Korean, what kinds of expressions did you learn related to taste?

‘짜다’, ‘달다’, ‘맵다’, ‘쓰다’.

주로 초급 때 배우는 맛 표현이잖아요.

저희 이제 중급이니까 ‘담백하다’, ‘고소하다', 다른 맛 표현 한번 배워 봐요.
Now that you are at an intermediate level, let’s learn other expressions about taste like 담백하다 and 고소하다.

먼저, ‘담백하다'라는 말은 ‘음식이 느끼하지 않고 약간 싱겁다'라는 말이에요.
First, 담백하다 is a word that means it doesn’t taste greasy and tastes a bit bland.

‘느끼하다'라는 말은 여러분, 치킨이나 기름으로 튀긴 종류의 음식만 계속 먹으면 나는 느낌 아시죠?
느끼하다 is… you know what it tastes like when you keep eating fried chicken or deep fried dishes, right?

그런 걸 ‘느끼하다’라고 해요.
We describe it as 느끼하다.

그리고 ‘싱겁다'라는 말은 ‘음식의 간이 약하다'라고 하는 말인데요.
And 싱겁다 is used when it’s not salty enough.

간은 음식의 짠 정도를 말해요.
간 refers to the level of saltiness.

음, 예를 들어서, ‘국이 너무 싱거워요.’ ‘소금 간을 더 해요.’
Well, for example, ‘This soup is not salty enough.’ ‘Add more salt.’

이런 식으로 말해요.
We say like this.

제가 아까 ‘담백하다'라는 말이 ‘음식이 느끼하지 않고 약간 싱겁다'라고 이야기를 했잖아요.
You know, I said earlier that 담백하다 is used when it doesn’t taste greasy and tastes a bit bland.

약간 싱거운 맛을 좋아하는 사람들도 많아요.
There are many people who like a slightly bland taste.

그래서 ‘담백하다'라는 말은 긍정적인 표현으로 사용돼요.
So, 담백하다 is used in a positive connotation.

‘고소하다'라는 말은 ‘참기름이나 깨에서 나는 맛'을 말해요.
고소하다 describes the taste of sesame oil or sesame seeds.

“대한민국 0.3% 얼룩돼지”라고 했어요.
It said “the spotted pigs which make up only 0.3% of all pigs in Korea”

사진 보면 돼지에 검정색 자국이 있죠?
There are some black spots on the pig, right?

이런 걸 ‘얼룩'이라고 하는데요.
We call them 얼룩.

비슷한 말로 제가 방금 말한 ‘자국'이 있어요.
The synonym of it is 자국, which I just said.

보통 ‘얼룩송아지'라고 말을 많이 해요.
A more common way to say it is ‘얼룩송아지(a spotted calf)’.

‘얼룩돼지’는 저도 처음 봤어요.
It’s the first time I have seen ‘얼룩돼지'.

그래서 대한민국에 0.3%밖에 없나 봐요.
I guess that’s why it makes up only 0.3% of pigs in Korea.

‘대한민국 0.3%만 있는 얼룩돼지’라는 뜻이에요.
It means the spotted pigs which make up only 0.3% of all pigs in Korea.
