깨가 쏟아지다
= to be like lovebirds, to be a very happy couple

Meaning Of The Phrase
깨는 추수할 때가 되면 베어서 말립니다. 마른 깨를 털어 보면 깨알이 우수수 떨어지는데요. 살짝만 건드려도 많은 양의 깨가 쏟아지기 때문에 농사를 지은 사람의 입장에서 굉장한 재미를 느낀다고 합니다. 사랑하는 두 사람이 함께 있을 때 느끼는 행복감을 깨를 털 때 느끼는 행복감에 비유한 표현이 바로 “깨가 쏟아지다”입니다. 특히 갓 결혼한 부부, 즉 신혼부부가 재밌게 지내는 모습을 볼 때 이 표현을 많이 씁니다.

When you shake dry sesame, the seeds will fall down in large amounts, and it is said that it can be a lot of fun and very rewarding for the harvester to see the sesame seeds fall. This expression, which is literally translated to “the sesame seeds fall” refers to how the happy vibes can be perceived in abundance. People often use this phrase to describe the happy honeymoon phase of a newly-wed couple.

오늘은 표현은요. “깨가 쏟아지다.”입니다.
Today’s expression is 깨가 쏟아지다.

그러면 단어부터 볼게요.
Then let’s take a look at the words first.

깨. 깨가 뭐죠?
깨. What is 깨?

깨는 먹는 거예요. 한국 사람들은 음식 위에 많이 뿌려 먹죠.
깨 is something you eat. Korean people often sprinkle it over food.

고소한 맛이 나는 거예요.
It has a very savory taste.

아주 작은 씨앗인데요.
These are very small seeds.

그러면 ‘쏟아지다’는 무슨 뜻이죠?
Then what does 쏟아지다 mean?

‘쏟아지다’는 어떤 물건이나 액체가 어디 안에 들어 있다가
쏟아지다 is when an object or some liquid is inside something

한꺼번에 밖으로 나올 때 ‘쏟아지다’라고 이야기해요.
and when comes out all at once, then you would say 쏟아지다.

기본형은 ‘쏟다’예요. 쏟다. 그렇죠? / 네.
The basic form is 쏟다, right? / Yes.

내가 “물을 쏟다.”, 그런데 물의 입장에서 이야기한다면
I “pour water” but from the perspective of the water,

“물이 쏟아지다.” 이렇게 이야기하죠.
