발 디딜 틈이 없다
= to be very crowded

디디다 = to step on something, to put one’s foot on the surface of something

없다 = to not exist, to not have

발 = foot

1.발이 아파요. = My foot hurts.

1.발을 여기에 디디고 건너가세요. = Go across by putting your foot on this.
2.발 어디에 디뎌야 돼요? = Where should I step on (to hold my weight)?
3.얼음에 발을 디뎌서 넘어졌어요. = I stepped on ice and fell.

틈 = gap, space, gap in time

1.여기 작은 틈이 있어요. = There is a small gap here.
2.저도 말할 틈을 주세요. = Give me a chance(some gap) to speak, too.
3.쉴 틈이 없었어요. = I had no time to rest.

없다 = to not exist, to not have

1.요즘 시간이 너무 없어요. = I have so little free time these days.
2.저는 할 말 없어요. = I have nothing to say.
3.다른 의견 없어요? = No other opinions?

Meaning Of The Phrase
이 표현은 “사람이 아주 많다” 또는 “아주 붐비다”라는 뜻입니다. 엘리베이터나 지하철, 아니면 어떤 다른 장소에 들어가고 싶은데, 사람이 너무 많아서 말 그대로 서 있을 수도 없는 상황을 상상해 보세요. 사람이 많은 곳에 대해서는 이 표현을 자유롭게 쓸 수 있고, 사실은 발을 디딜 공간이 있어도, 정말 사람이 많다는 뜻으로 이렇게 말할 수 있습니다.

발 디딜 틈이 없다 means “to be very crowded”. Imagine an elevator, a subway car, or some other place where there are so many people that there is literally so space left for you to put your foot. You can use this phrase about any kind of place that is very crowded, even if it is NOT crowded to the point where you can’t even stand there.

그럼 단어 설명해 볼까요?
Well then, shall we explain the words?

먼저, 발.
First, foot.

발.
Foot.

발은 우리 몸의 가장 아래에 있는 부분이죠.
Our feet are the parts at the very bottom of our bodies.

네. 손 말고 발이요. 발.

걷는… 발로 저희가 걸어가죠.

그러면 ‘디디다’는 무슨 뜻이죠?
