담백하다
[담:배카다]
1. to be bland in a good way, plain and mild-tasting
Ex) 두부는 정말 담백해요. = Tofu tastes very plain.
담백하다 vs. 싱겁다(Lesson 3)
담백하다 has a positive connotation whereas 싱겁다 can be either neutral or negative depending on the context and situation.
2. to be genuine and not greedy
Ex) 은희 씨는 담백한 사람이에요. = Eunhee has a genuine, frank personality and she is far from greedy.
* 담백한 is the adjective form of 담백하다.
3. the way one speak is candid and clear
Ex) 은희 씨는 항상 담백하게 말해요.
* 담백하게 is the adverb form of 담백하다.
