Lesson 5
In the previous lesson, you learned how to call out someone’s name by adding -야 or -아 at the end if you can speak 반말 with them. The single-syllable expression “야.” can also be used for the same purpose, and some more.
The various usages of 야
- You can get someone’s attention in 반말.
- You can start a sentence with it as a filler, like “You know.”
- You can express the meaning “Come on.”
- You can express anger or frustration toward someone like “Hey!”
